I'm Greg Palis, founder of Alt Life Vans. As a young Electrical Engineering student, I got hooked on rock climbing. I spent the summer before my senior year of college living and working in ​Alaska and traveling the inter-mountain west. The experiences and people I encountered kindled a desire for a different kind of life. A life where I could live and play in wild places with all the essentials and nothing more. A life where I could be where I wanted without setting roots.  I built my van in a driveway with a lot of trial and error and it became my full time home for an amazing year and a half. It also took me to Salt Lake City, Utah where my need for settling and growing became strong. I sold my van to a traveling musician and poured myself into remodeling a cabin in the mountains above the city. A few years later I started building vans again.  I only ever wanted to build a few beautiful vans a year, work with a few amazing clients a  year, and deliver vans I was proud of.
