GoodWe Launches EO G2 Off-Grid Solar Inverter for African Markets

July 22, 2026

GoodWe Launches EO G2 Off-Grid Solar Inverter for African Markets

GoodWe has launched the 3-6 kW EO G2 off-grid inverter for African households and small businesses, emphasizing harsh-environment protection, generator integration and expandable storage.

GoodWe has introduced its EO G2 single-phase off-grid inverter in Africa, targeting households, small businesses and communities affected by unreliable grids, limited rural coverage and continued dependence on diesel generators.

Key facts

  • The EO G2 range covers 3 kW to 6 kW single-phase off-grid applications with one or two MPPTs.
  • It supports up to 200% PV oversizing, allowing systems to harvest more solar energy across variable conditions.
  • A 21 A PV input per string is designed for compatibility with mainstream high-power modules.
  • Product specifications list maximum efficiency of 98.6% and IP66 protection against dust and moisture.
  • The inverter supports direct generator connection and parallel operation of up to 10 units.
  • When paired with GoodWe's Lynx A G4 low-voltage battery, the system provides backup switching in under 4 milliseconds, according to the company.
  • Built-in ground-fault protection, surge protection and an operating range from -35 C to 60 C are intended for demanding environments.

Why it matters

Off-grid and weak-grid markets need equipment designed around more than headline efficiency. Dust, heat, voltage instability, limited service access and changing load requirements can determine whether a system delivers reliable power over its lifetime.

GoodWe is positioning the EO G2 as a modular platform rather than a fixed-size appliance. Users can combine solar, storage, grid supply and generators, then expand battery capacity or add inverter units as demand grows. That approach can be useful for shops and households that need to start with a smaller system but cannot tolerate long outages.

The launch also reflects a broader shift in distributed solar across Africa. Buyers are increasingly comparing total operating value, backup performance and after-sales support, not only the upfront inverter price. Suppliers that can pair robust hardware with scalable batteries and local service networks will be better placed to compete in that environment.
